A Note From Beacon Hill's President, Bill Pritchard

When we first began to talk about an editorial topic for this issue of The Summit, we were only a few weeks into stay-at-home orders from our local governments, but it was clear that COVID-19 would present many challenges in our personal and professional lives for the foreseeable future. Questions from agents were pouring in -- Is a virus considered a pollutant? Is my insured covered for business interruption under their current policy?  What will happen to premiums if revenues drastically change? Insurance carriers were taking a close look at how current policy forms are written and working to clarify any areas up for debate.

In this issue of our e-magazine, not only do we talk about some COVID-19 related issues, we look at all viruses and communicable diseases and how the insurance marketplace sees this exposure. We also discuss some of the questions agents must now make part of their client conversations, including the impact of this pandemic coupled with other major disruptions in our social and economic landscape.

We hope you find this issue relevant and informative, and we thank you for providing us with any feedback you have. Enjoy!
