A Note From Beacon Hill's President, Bill Pritchard
Welcome to the June 2017 issue of The Summit.
The first half of the year has continued the competitive landscape we saw through much of 2016. New carriers and programs have entered the market, creating more pressure on existing books of business as they try to carve out market share. What has changed in the last six months is claims activity. A significant surge in meaningful mold claims as well as difficult auto losses has led to changing terms and hard to place lines.
In this issue of The Summit we want to talk about these issues, with a focus on Mold―an exposure that has been a game-changer for many insurance providers, and one that has changed the way insureds educate and protect their investments & reputation. Although concerns about mold are not new, the way businesses are working to prevent it and handle the risk have certainly shifted.
We will also be reviewing where we see opportunities in the market, as one broker’s challenge is often another’s opening. Being ready to take advantage of these, and even seeking them out, is a strategy that will increase any agent’s production.
As we previously mentioned, The Summit has transitioned to a biannual format. We believe this has allowed us to provide you with a more in-depth look at important issues affecting our business and a better discussion of how we can take advantage of these opportunities.
As always, we welcome your feedback and appreciate your interest!
